Top tip

For the Blue Star Fern to thrive, it loves humidity and indirect light. Mimic the rainforest conditions of South America for it to thrive.

About Blue Star Fern

The Phlebodium Blue Star Fern loves to be kept in indirect light or even some shade. Give it a warm and humid home (min 17°C), and regularly mist and water it. Don't give your Blue Star Fern too much water, or its leaves may brown. Somewhat confusingly, browning tips, on the other hand, are normal - so don't worry about them.

As you might expect, plants in the giant expanse of the rainforest don't often have human contact, so this Prickle Plant prefers a more hands-off approach. Avoid touching your Phlebodium Blue Star Fern as much as you can, and if you do need to wear gloves if possible. For a nice even growth, turn your fern occasionally so it will get sunlight on all sides. This fast-growing plant will only reach a maximum height of 1m. Considering the Blue Star Fern doesn't like being touched at all, it should hardly come as a shock that it is not child and pet-friendly. Be sure to keep little Pricklettes away as it is toxic to them.

At Prickle, we are always here to hear you! Send us your Blue Star Fern questions @prickleplantsuk.
